Wine Culture
The Bordeaux area is known worldwide for its superior wines and it’s certainly worth attending a wine-tasting session or vineyard tour at some of the local chateaux while you’re in the South West. Domaine de Soulac is situated in the Médoc region, which is particularly famous for its grand crus. If you want to venture a bit further you could visit the stunning village of St Emilion, a UNESCO world heritage site perched in the midst of vineyards. It is well-worth visiting for its history, its architecture and its wine.

Towns & Cities
It may be most famous for its wine, but the city centre of Bordeaux is also a great place to explore in its own right, full of stunning architecture, quirky cafés, art, history and culture. Closer to Les Viviers, check out the elegant seaside resorts of Arcachon and Cap Ferret, both famous for their water sports and their amazing views over Arcachon Bay. Meanwhile, if you’re staying at Les Dunes de Contis you might want to take a trip to glitzy Biarritz (once the favourite resort of royalty, now famous for its surfing) or charming Bayonne (where you can learn more about Basque culture).
